Sometimes, it is really lovely when a person in your small group sees something you’ve done at work before you’ve had a chance to tell them about it.
I was delighted to get an email from someone in our group alerting me to the new website for Vaughan Robert’s God’s Big Picture, which has been available online for a little while. Given that my prayer in working on the new website had been to see people in small groups read and study the Bible more closely and more passionately as a result of the free resources available here, this was an encouragement!
For those not in the loop, Vaughan Roberts’ book God’s Big Picture is a really helpful and popular overview of the entire story of the Bible. Given how many copies it has been consistently selling, funding was found to film Vaughan teaching the book as a video course. That course and associated downloads (videos, and printable resources for small groups) can be found at this new website:

The Course follows the structure of Vaughan’s book, echoing the oncoming news of God’s Kingdom as revealed in the Bible. Each ‘unit’ consists of a short, well-produced video, and both leaders and participants notes:
- The Pattern of the Kingdom
- The Perished Kingdom
- The Promised Kingdom
- The Partial Kingdom – People, Rule and Blessing
- The Partial Kingdom – Place and King
- The Prophesied Kingdom
- The Present Kingdom
- The Proclaimed Kingdom
- The Perfected Kingdom
I first read God’s Big Picture as a teenager – and it was a beautiful overview and enthralling insight into the big story of God’s Kingdom and the over-arching narrative of God’s Word. It was an honour to be able to work on bringing this book and course to a wider audience, and I’m excited to see what happens next.
